Grit and Screenings Removal

The raw sewage enters the treatment plant at the “headworks”. The headworks contains two bar screens and a grit removal system. The bar screens remove large debri such as wood, shoes, and toys. This material must be removed because it will damage pumps and plug pipes in the treatment plant if it is allowed to pass through.
